We all know that most networks are, well, just not "quantumy" enough. Good news, then, that German boffins at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics have created the first "universal quantum network." We've been hearing about plain old quantum computing since the first qubit was sent, but now we have to get our tiny minds around the idea of a quantum internet too. Data was sent using single rubidium atoms in reflective optical cavities and single photons emitted over optical fiber. Given that data was only successfully transmitted 0.2% of the time, and the network spanned just 21 meters, a complex LAN with multiple nodes is a way off just yet, but the proof of concept is there. Lil Wayne Signs Four-Album Deal With Cash Money Records

'I came into the game with Cash Money, and I'm gonna ride it out with my team,' Wayne says on 'Hip Hop POV.'

Cash Money Records plans to drop approximately 16 albums this year, and at least one of them will come from , who is currently working on two new LPs. But if there was any worry that Weezy would take his future projects elsewhere, the New Orleans rapper confirms that he recently signed another four-album deal with Cash Money.

During an interview on the debut episode of MTV's "Hip Hop POV" Lil Wayne confirmed that he's sticking with his team.

"Everybody knows I came into the game at 11 years old with Cash Money Records, before we even had a major deal," Wayne said. "We signed a deal in I don't remember when, and I been with Cash Money ever since. So if you're looking for integrity, I am the definition. If you're looking for a person that's gonna stay down, I am the definition. If you're looking for loyalty, I am just that."

Despite a few tumultuous years, Wayne maintains that all is right in the world of YMCMB. "Trust me, there's been a lot of ups and downs, a lot of downs — all the down way down if you wanna know," he said. "But I rode it out with my team and I'm gonna ride it out with my team."

I Am Not a Human Being 2, the sequel to Wayne's 2010 release, is the next project on the horizon, and he's also at work on an album called Devol, which he wrote during his time in prison.

According to Wayne, I Am Not a Human Being 2 will give him the most creative freedom. "Contract-wise, I only get paid for 12 songs. Maybe on a Carter album, you probably only gonna get 12 songs, maybe a bonus 13," he explained "But on this I Am Not a Human Being thing, I really don't care. ... You're probably gonna get 16 on there.

"The I Am Not a Human Being 2 is more me just being creatively free," he added.

Lil Wayne dropped his most recent album, Tha Carter IV, last summer. By February the album had sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide.

Joe Arpaio's Failed Probes Continue To Plague Him

PHOENIX -- Failed corruption investigations launched by America's self-proclaimed toughest sheriff have succeeded in getting one of the lawman's top allies disbarred.

And despite Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's efforts to distance himself from cases at the center of a legal ethics panel inquiry that cost a pair of former county prosecutors their careers ? the fallout has moved closer.

"Sheriff Arpaio is the next big step," said Mary Rose Wilcox, a Maricopa County official who has been at odds with the sheriff and his allies. "He will fall."

Arpaio has denied wrongdoing, but the three-member disciplinary panel of the Arizona courts said Tuesday that evidence suggests the sheriff conspired with Maricopa County's former top prosecutor to intimidate a judge with unfounded criminal charges.

The ethics board's sweeping ruling against former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and one of his assistant prosecutors says they wrongfully brought criminal charges against a pair of county officials, including Wilcox, in December 2009.

The panel said the charges were brought to embarrass the county officials and the judge who had been at odds with Arpaio and Thomas.

Arpaio and Thomas have defended their actions, saying they were working to root out corruption in county government.

Arpaio does not face punishment, but investigations by his anti-public corruption squad were discussed heavily during the ethics investigation into Thomas and one of his deputy prosecutors, Lisa Aubuchon.

Arpaio testified during the hearings, saying in September that he didn't follow the investigations closely and delegated the cases to his then-top assistant David Hendershott.

The ruling disbarring Thomas and Aubuchon marked the first official comment by the state's legal establishment on the validity of the investigations.

It also supported lawyers who said Arpaio and Thomas wrongly went after judges, attorneys and government officials who crossed them, using criminal investigations as a weapon.

Longtime critics are predicting the damage from the failed cases will do what Justice Department lawsuits, claims of civil rights violations and protests over his hardline stance on immigration could not ? hurt him with voters.

But predictions of Arpaio's political demise have cropped up many times over his five terms in office, often centering on the deaths of inmates in his jails or his immigration patrols that critics say are infected by racial profiling.

And Arpaio is fond of pointing out that he has survived many storms in the past.

Arpaio, who rarely declines an interview request, commented on the ethics panel rulings Tuesday only through a written statement that described Thomas as a "hard-working professional who served the people of this county for many years."

Arpaio also said in the statement, "Today's decision no doubt is a disappointment to Andrew Thomas, his family and his colleagues."

The sheriff it would be inappropriate to comment further.

County officials who were targeted in the investigations say the sheriff has run baseless investigations and tried to intimidate county workers for years.

Arpaio and Thomas became embroiled in a yearlong political blood feud with county officials, including County Supervisors Wilcox and Don Stapley.

They brought criminal charges against the officials and a then-Superior Court Judge Gary Donahoe in December 2009.

All three cases were dismissed after a judge ruled that Thomas prosecuted one of the officials for political gain and had a conflict of interest in pressing the case.

The ethics panel ruled that Thomas and Aubuchon broke criminal intimidation and perjury laws in knowingly bringing false bribery charges against Donahoe.

"It was clear to us that Mr. Thomas and Ms. Aubuchon were not working independent of the sheriff and vice versa," said John Gleason, an attorney who led the case on behalf of the State Bar of Arizona.

Other county officials and judges who were at odds with Arpaio and Thomas also were investigated but weren't charged with crimes.

Thomas, who called the ethics case against a "political witch hunt," said the decision to charge the judge had nothing to do with the decisions the judge issued against his office.

The panel pointed out the testimony of a sheriff's investigator who recounted the reactions of Aubuchon and Hendershott when they learned the court hearing had been called off. The investigator said Aubuchon looked pleased and Hendershott said, "checkmate."

The ruling said Hendershott credited Arpaio with coming up with the idea of charging the judge, and the sheriff's investigator who signed the criminal complaint hadn't done any investigation of Donahoe.

Separate from the attorney disciplinary case, a federal grand jury also has been investigating Arpaio's office on criminal abuse-of-power allegations since at least December 2009 and is specifically examining the investigative work of the sheriff's anti-public corruption squad that produced the unsuccessful probes.

Antonio Bustamante, a Phoenix civil rights attorney and critic of the sheriff's forays into immigration enforcement, said the Thomas decision, to some degree, politically hurts Arpaio, but he added that many voters don't realize Arpaio's office carried out the investigations.

"Those who know that Joe Arpaio was the investigative muscle behind much of what Thomas did will take note that Arpaio is tinged," Bustamante said.

Bob Fosse's 'Cabaret' restored to original glory

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? It took a stray bit of dirt to scratch the perfection of "Cabaret," and painstaking effort to return it to cinematic glory.

The restored "Cabaret," minus damage that had prevented a high-definition version, earned the opening spot at the four-day TCM Classic Film Festival. Stars Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey were scheduled to attend Thursday's ceremony marking the musical's 40th anniversary.

Minnelli, whose turn as cabaret singer Sally Bowles captured a best actress Academy Award and cemented her young stardom, said making "Cabaret" was a joyful "secret," filmed in Munich and far away from meddling Los Angeles studio bosses.

Director Bob Fosse "got away with murder. We all did," Minnelli said in a recent phone call from New York. She's on a concert tour, "Confessions," based on her album of the same title.

"We'd take chances, and the studio would send notes like, 'Too cloudy. It will break up on drive-in (screens),'" she recalled. "Fosse would read that out loud, tear it up and throw it over his shoulder ? in front of the whole cast and crew."

Set in 1930s Berlin, with German life darkening under the Nazi Party's rise, the film was based on the 1966 Broadway musical adapted from Christopher Isherwood's short novels.

Michael York starred as Sally's boyfriend and Helmut Griem played the wealthy lover shared by both in a then-rare movie depiction of bisexuality. Fosse's distinctive, archly suggestive choreography defined the film's candor and cynicism.

Grey portrayed the grotesquely painted master of ceremonies at the nightclub where Sally performed. Her vulnerability and yearning were on display in the tawdry setting as she belted out "Maybe This Time," ''Life Is a Cabaret" and other indelible songs from the John Kander-Fred Ebb score.

Both Grey and Minnelli won Oscars, his for supporting actor. Besides capturing a total of eight trophies, including best director for Fosse, the 1972 film was nominated for best picture.

"Cabaret" has been sold on standard-definition DVD from Warner Bros. since 1992. But it was unavailable in high-def or for digital presentation because of a vertical scratch that ran through 1,000 feet, or 10 minutes, of one of its reels, said Ned Price, vice president of mastering and restoration for Warner Bros.

The damage apparently was caused by a piece of dirt that had rolled through the length of the reel, starting with a scene in which York's character has a confrontation with a pro-Nazi boarding house resident, and cut into the emulsion.

With the damaged images digitally "painted out" using bits from surrounding areas, "the difficult part was matching the grain structure so the fix was invisible," Price said in an email.

Repair attempts using automated digital processing failed, so all 1.4 million frames of the damaged reel were painted by an operator using a computer stylus. The restored version is expected to play on TCM later this year.

For Minnelli, 66, "Cabaret" holds a certain family irony: It reversed an approach to movie musicals she said was pioneered by her late father, famed director Vincente Minnelli, in a 1944 film starring her mother, Judy Garland. The actress-singer and Vincente Minnelli were married from 1945-51. Garland, 47, died in 1969.

"My father changed everything when he did 'Meet Me in St. Louis,'" Minnelli said. "That was the first time a musical had taken the songs outside of the theater, and people sang at home and on the street."

"'Cabaret,'" she said, "changed it back," with Fosse staging nearly all the musical numbers in the nightclub setting. An exception: "Tomorrow Belongs to Me," sung by a handsome, innocent-faced teenage boy, who as the camera pulls back, is chillingly revealed to be garbed in a Nazi uniform.

"Every time I see it, I just keep marveling at Bob Fosse's work, and his choices," Minnelli said of the film

Her dad had a role in how she approached her character's style, the actress said. When she sought inspiration from the sleekly elegant look of Marlene Dietrich, who was famous in the 1930s (and beyond), Vincente Minnelli protested.

"My father said, 'No, no, no,' and he showed me pictures of (actresses) Louise Brooks and Theda Bara. He said they were marvelous brunettes," she recalled. The result: Sally's heavily lined, thickly lashed eyes, defined lips and a sleek cap of black hair with an impish ? devilish? ? point extending down her forehead.

Two days before shooting began, she put the look together for Fosse's benefit.

"I knocked on his door and said, 'What do you think?'" Minnelli recalled. He gave a surprised stammer, she said, followed quickly by, "It's good!"

How does Minnelli, one of the few artists to win an Oscar, a Tony (at age 19, for "The Sterile Cuckoo"), an Emmy and a Grammy, feel about being so closely identified with "Cabaret"?

"Honey, to tell you the truth, anything anybody says is fine," she said, adding a husky, hearty laugh.

The annual Tom?s Rivera Conference at UC Riverside presents Sandra Cisneros on Apil 25.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. ? Poet and novelist Sandra Cisneros will be the featured speaker at the annual Tom?s Rivera Conference, which this year also celebrates the 40^th anniversary of Chicano Student Programs at UC Riverside. Cisneros will speak at 7 p.m. April 25 in HUB 302.

The announcement of the Inlandia Institute?s second Literary Laureate, a panel of writers discussing Chicano/Latino literature, and a book-signing will follow Cisneros?s presentation. The event, ?An Evening with Sandra Cisneros Siete Noches/Seven Nights,? is free and open to the public. Parking is $5. The presentation by Cisneros will be ?an unprecedented gift of culture for all of our students, Inlandia high school and college communities, and the public at large ? big poems, deep stories and family celebrations of unity in these most unpredictable and changing times,? said Juan Felipe Herrera, the newly appointed California Poet Laureate, holder of the Tom?s Rivera Endowed Chair in Creative Writing at UCR, and the conference organizer. ?Our beloved and late pioneering poet and UC Riverside Chancellor Tom?s Rivera would be filled with joy and happiness. Let us partake in this new light.?

The annual conference honors the legacy of Rivera, who was UCR?s chancellor from 1979 until his death after a heart attack in 1984. Rivera was the first Hispanic and first minority chancellor in the UC system, and at 43, the youngest person ever appointed to lead a UC campus.? He also was an award-winning writer of poems, short stories and literary essays.

Cisneros is the other of a chapbook of poetry, ?Bad Boys?; two full-length poetry books, ?My Wicked Wicked Ways? and ?Loose Woman,? winner of the Mountains & Plains Booksellers? Award; a collection of stories, ?Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories,? winner of the Lannan Foundation Literary Award, PEN Center West Award for Best Fiction of 1991 and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award; a children?s book, ?Hairs/Pelitos?; and two novels, ?The House on Mango Street,? which won the Before Columbus Foundation?s American Book Award in 1985, and ?Caramelo,? which won the Premio Napoli award in 2005 and was short-listed for the Dublin International IMPAC Award; and a compilation of selections from her works, ?Vintage Cisneros? (Knopf, 2003). Her work has been translated into more than a dozen languages.

In 1995 Cisneros received a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship and organized the Latino MacArthur Fellows, focusing on community outreach. She is the 2003 recipient of the Texas Medal of the Arts, and has won two National Endowment of the Arts fellowships for fiction and poetry; the Chicano Short Story Award from the University of Arizona; the Texas Institute of Letters Dobie-Paisano Fellowship; and an Illinois Artists Grant.

She is the president and founder of the Macondo Foundation, an association of socially engaged writers who work to advance creativity, foster generosity and honor their communities; and of the Alfredo Cisneros Del Moral Foundation, which awards grants to Texas writers. She is writer-in-residence at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.

Herd's Vinny Curry meets fans, awaits NFL draft

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. -- As Marshall defensive standout Vinny Curry travels the nation, hopping between NFL cities, he can't forget the thousands of Herd fans who supported him in Huntington.

Curry signed autographs Saturday?at Collectibles, Etc., at?the Huntington Mall.

"I could have had different signings like this, but I wanted my first one to be here in Huntington,"?said Curry, the 2011?Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year. "It meant a lot to me and I thought it would mean a lot to the community."

The popular Curry was a natural guest for Collectibles, Etc.?

"We're trying to get more involved with the local community here in Barboursville and Huntington, and we heard nothing but great things about Vinny," Collectibles, Etc., owner Chad Rogers said. "You can't do much better than a guy who was named to six different all-American teams and is getting ready for the NFL Draft.

"He's been great with the fans, he's just been real personable and made sure every person felt special."

J.D. Francisco, a young Herd fan from Huntington, came to the signing event dressed in a Kelly green Vinny Curry jersey that Curry signed for him after The Herd's 17-13 upset victory over the Louisville Cardinals on Oct. 1, 2011, at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville. Francisco said he has talked to Curry on several occasions and "loves him a lot."

Francisco explained Curry is his favorite Marshall player "because he's the bestest player."

Connie Jordan, of Huntington, brought memorabilia to get autographed?for her son, Bobby?Combs, and her grandsons, Simeon Combs and Rashan Combs, all of Denver. She said?the keepsakes meant a lot to her son because he attended Harmony Community School in Cincinnati with Curry.

"I think it's really nice, especially with all the young kids who look up to him," Jordan said of Curry signing autographs. "He's going to go a long way with his attitude and his spirit and his kindness."

As Curry signed autographs and greeted fans, he still was taking in the fact that he is only weeks away from being selected in the NFL Draft, which begins April 26. He already has visited seven NFL teams, and with seven to go, his pre-draft schedule will keep him busy.

"It's been really wild," Curry said, laughing. "Just yesterday, I flew in here fresh off a team visit, so I've barely been asleep. But it's a blessing. These are some things that you've been chasing since you were a kid, so just to be living it out, it feels weird, but it's all going to pay off here in 19 days though."

Rogers said Collectibles, Etc. will host West Virginia University standout Kevin Jones for an autograph signing from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at its Nitro Marketplace location in Cross Lanes.

===Introduction===

Argos is just brilliant for value gym goods that can be used at home. The majority of my workout stuff has been bought from Argos over the years including my Everlast Treadmill and my exercise bike. Most of my gym accessories have also been bought from Argos, including this cheeky little gym ball. About a year ago, I bought a hefty batch of gym related goods from Argos and had this thrown in for free thanks to a local in-store offer. I originally thought nothing of it. A five quid product for free after spending a hundred quid; especially one that I am unlikely to ever use. At the time I didn't even know what a gym ball was. However, one year on, this handy little gym ball still holds its own as a great asset to my home workout routines.

===About The Product===

A gym ball is a very handy piece of equipment to have for any casual home workout-er, such as myself. I always work out at home simply because I hate people watching me work-out. This gym ball comes in handy for two main activities for me; sit-ups and squats. For both, it just ensures that I don't cheat, so that the target muscle group gets the best possible workout, rather than me relying on my arms or other things that lessen the effect on the target muscle. A quality workout for a fiver just by holding onto a ball - sorted.

The package is very basic and bland and the ball itself is neutral in colour and isn't anything to look at. It doesn't need to be. You get a pump thrown in, you get a gym ball that lasts for several workouts with one pump up which takes a few minutes to do, and you get a few extras thrown in to help you out. Very basic, but you get what you pay for - and that is all you need.

I never thought I would own a gym ball simply because I never saw the point. But after getting this one for free and using it for my ab and leg workouts, I can't complain at all - it greatly aids the strain on target muscles and helps me to make sure that I don't cheat at all. A very simply yet very effective tool - and much safer than using a breeze block (DO NOT USE A BREEZE BLOCK OR BOULDER)

===Final Words===

You only have to spend five pounds to own this gym ball and that five pounds contributes to more effective and efficient abdominal workouts. It can also be used for other workouts that I have never tried, but I;m sure you guys can get much more versatility out of it than me. Pretty much a must-have for anyone looking to work out from the comfort of their own home while getting the best possible workout.
