I'm new to this Forum. I posted a couple of time though. Basically, I have been working for free for 2 and 1/2 months to learn to be an estate agent. I felt this was my only way in as I used to be a waiter. I'm 33 now lol, I have a car and a suit so I look the part. I have learnt a lot from my boss and he is happy with my progress.
I've been paid commission only and made ?200 in 2 and 1/2 months. Which is around $200 for you guys as the living expenses is almost the same.
I'm happy with my boss as it was my suggestion in the first place just to get some experience. I went to a lot of different Real Estate Agencies knocking, door to door and my pitch went like this.
Hi my name is Ken. You?re the boss here right? I like to work for you free for 3 months or work on a commission only basis. How do you feel about that?
Many said no and some said yes. My boss was the fifth one to say yes and my gut told me, this is the right guy who is going to teach me and train me up properly. I got exactly what I wanted.
As a new agent, what do you think my next move should be as I had been given a lot of different advice?
Most people said leave and get paid a base rate salary. This is the advice I'm getting from Friends and even different Estate Agents that know my Boss.
I'm worried 3 months work experience might not be enough, to get a job.
Should my next move be working for free in a Bigger Estate Agency or get paid a Base rate salary? I want to learn and I would love to make money to cover my living expenses also. I see this as a long term thing.
A better question I guess would be if you had to learn from scratch, what would you do differently to get to where you are right now?
The problem with my Bosses Estate Agency is its really small and he is making money but not a lot. He has an Ellis and Co Franchise and I got a feeling it's going to take a bit of time to grow. He is a good man and I can't continue to stay because I need to achieve my dreams and goals
What do you think my next move should be?
