California Prison System Guilty of Eugenics

Our government?s latest contribution to eugenics includes the sterilization of female inmates in California and a vaccine to sterilize dogs.

In a new investigative report, doctors under contract with the California Department of Corrections sterilized nearly 150 females between 2006 and 2010. A prisoner who worked in the infirmary overheard medical staff encouraging the sterilization of multiple offenders.

Despite the fact federal and state laws ban prisoner sterilizations with federal monies, California used state funds.

California was the second state to pass eugenics laws in 1909, two years after Indiana made it legal to sterilize the ?feeble-minded,? according to University of Virginia bioethicist Paul Lombardo.

The Asexualization Act of 1909, allowed the California prison system to legally castrate male prisoners and remove the ovaries of female inmates. In keeping with the principles of Social Darwinism, they were able to ?select? whom they deemed fit to procreate.

Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, perpetuated eugenics at about the same time. In 1934 she authored her infamous paper, ?America Need a Code for Babies.?

The government is committed to eugenics. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton won the Margaret Sanger award in 2009 and said she ?was in awe of her.?

The government also wants to sterilize dogs. It started by testing the vaccine GonaCon last September on dogs on two different Indian Reservations. In the GonaCon test, ?dogs will be caught, micro chipped, tattooed, collared, injected and released,? explains spay and neuter expert Ruth Steinberger.

It is interesting that the US government has selected Indian Reservations as the testing grounds for sterilization, considering they forced Native American women into sterilization in the 1970?s.
