NBA Stars In Beijing: Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Carmelo Play China

NBA stars Blake Griffin, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul were in Beijing on Tuesday (July 16), telling journalists that basketball can be big in China, especially if players aim to have fun, while back home in the USA, new Clippers coach 'Doc' Rivers will give the team greater opportunities.

New York Knicks player Anthony and the Los Angeles Clippers' Griffin and Paul joined forces against a Chinese team on Monday and spoke about the match to reporters on Tuesday.

"Going to the courts yesterday and seeing those kids play and then going to the ?game last night, the All-Star game, and watching everybody there -- their genuine enthusiasm for the game -- and how big it is over here. I was blown away by it. So, it's amazing to see, you know, how something that we love in United States, and it's so big in United States, is growing over here. It can be just big," power forward Griffin said. .

Anthony said the best way to approach basketball was with the idea of having fun.

"You know, for me, I'm a very happy person. I like to have fun. I played the game with a smile. You know, the game is fun for me. If there is one thing that kids around the world can take from that, from me, it's to have fun while playing the game of basketball. Whatever you do, just have fun and you know, and enjoy it," said the small forward.

All-Star point guard Paul, who agreed a five-year, $107 million contract extension with the Clippers earlier in July, said the arrival of head coach Glenn 'Doc' Rivers, was exciting.

"We haven't had lot of time to communicate. One night, me and Blake actually had a conversation with them last week and I think for us, we're just excited about the future. I said it's about Doc a number of times. Hiring Doc and bringing Doc in as our head coach doesn't automatically translate to wins, but I think it gives us an opportunity to win. That's all we can ask for," he said.

Griffin, Anthony and Paul will also visit Shanghai, Guangzhou and Taipei.
