Canadian financial services provider?Royal Bank of Canada?(RBC) has launched its RBC Secure Cloud mobile payments service. Service users will be able to pay for purchases using their mobile devices. RBC will bring RBC Secure Cloud to market by the end of 2013 with debit and credit on a number of smartphone platforms.
With RBC Secure Cloud, customer data is encrypted and decoded locally on the customer?s mobile device at point of sale through partnerships with mobile service providers. Initially focused on NFC, the RBC m-payments service can support bar or QR codes, or other standards, and allows offline transactions.
